COVID-19 Protocols

Out of concern for our community's safety, Adath Shalom is following all CDC guidelines, making changes whenever necessary. Many of our events are offered in hybrid/zoom form to allow community participation. Please join us! Click HERE to go to our calendar for specifics. Refuah shlemah (full recovery) to all affected by COVID-19, both physically and emotionally. We look forward to the day our entire community can return in person.

In this era of COVID-19, we have been working hard to create policies and protocols to allow events to happen safely. For our community, this is based in the Jewish value of Pikuach Nefesh (the preservation of human life). To ensure that you and every event attendee feels safe, we want to make sure you are aware of these policies and protocols. Below outlines what we are asking of you as an event attendee.

  1. Masks are currently optional  for all members and guests while inside our building, regardless of vaccination status.
  2. Social distancing is highly encouraged while indoors
  3. Safety protocols for seating and participation, both on and below the bimah, remain in place
  4. Kiddushes and Onegs have moved indoors with safety protocols in place for food preparation, seating and  distribution.  Outdoor kiddushes will continue to be an option during warmer weather.
  5. Two-way Zoom access to Shabbat and Holiday services continues as an available option until further notice.
  6. If you are not feeling well, waiting on the results of a Covid test due to being sick and/or exposed to someone who has tested positive, or have tested positive for Covid within the last 14 days, we ask that you do not enter the building until you have been cleared.

In addition, for  those attending Friday Night, Shabbat or other special services, the following protocols are in place:

  1. Hand free sanitizers are placed throughout the building including our main lobby, as you enter the sanctuary, social hall, office and religious school wing.
  2. Please bring your own kipot and tallit if you're attending services. You may bring your own prayer book and/or machzorim. Tallit  and kipot will also be available in the social hall as needed.
  3. Please follow our Ritual Committee ushers and synagogue officials for seating instructions.
  4. Please take and return prayer books in marked area.
  5. Please note that the pews are marked for social distancing.  We are seating every other row. Caution tape will be placed on rows not utilized until further notice.
  6. Any Aliyot for members attending services on-site will be on the bima or at our lectern on the floor in front of the bima. Sanitizer wipes are available.  You will be spotlighted while we are still utilizing Zoom.
  7. Torah readers may come to the Bima and read directly from the Torah or alternatively can continue to read from the Tikkun.  Torah readers on the bima may remove their mask if the opt to wear one during services.

The Covid Action Committee has the right to make changes to safety protocols based on the current Covid-19 conditions in New Jersey and Morris County.
