Notes from Cantor Avima

     There are so many fun songs for Purim, many, many song parodies based on popular music, showtunes, etc... But some of my favorite purim songs are actually the Yiddish songs. Here is one I just found by typing "Purim songs in Yiddish" on youtube. And, who is that fellow in the back row, 2nd from the left? Our very own Cantor Brian Kalver! Makhts Of!      One of my favorites is this little story about a girl who went to town to buy the ingredients to bake hamentashen and, well, the project goes poorly! Yachne Dvorshe goes to town to shop, It's raining, it's snowing, there is a hole in her flour bag, She gets home, bakes her homentashen and puts them in a basket to deliver to her aunt... half are burnt and half are raw. Hop Mayne Homentaschen, Theodore Bikel
