Notes from Cantor Avima

     The visit with Rabbi Rafi this shabbat was especially inspiring. I can't say enough about the  warmth and charisma of this man.  On Friday night we had our Gimel class service and our students received their siddurim with special covers and dedications prepared by their parents. A beautiful moment was when Rabbi Rafi recited a blessing for each child as they received their siddur. He insisted on not conferring the blessing on them as a group, but rather, one by one.This demonstrated the value we place on each and every child. He also brought them each a gift of a keychain individualized with their Hebrew names.  

     One of the strengths of our Religious School is that we make an effort to meet the needs of every individual student. Some of our students require a bit more attention than others. It was with this value that the Mark Dunn Special Needs Fund was established - in order to meet the needs of EVERY child who wants a Jewish education. On Saturday night, March 30  there will be a special fund raiser to benefit the Mark Dunn Special Needs Fund. Please check the synagogue website and calendar to register and know that supporting this fund will help our school maintain its focus on each individual student. 

     Meanwhile, I want to share this beautiful song, Am Yisrael Chai by Eyal Golan written shortly after October 7. Let's hope for a resolution to this crisis.  Am Yisrael Chai Eyal Golan
