Notes from Cantor Avima

Chanukkah has been over for almost a week as I write this. However, I want to memorialize one particular moment that filled me with hope and optimism. It was the moment on the last night of Chanukkah when our religious school students filled our bimah, held up colorful glow sticks and the sanctuary was filled with  voices, young and old singing the candle blessings and Ma'oz Tsur. I have to say I don't think I heard such beautiful congregational singing fill our sanctuary in the year and a half I have been your Cantor/Religious School Director. Not even on Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. I will long remember the buzz I felt at that moment and hope we can "plan" more such moments. Have a restorative Winter break and see you in January.
