Each year, in partnership with the Jewish Agency for Israel, Federation brings a delegation of emissaries to Greater MetroWest to educate children, teens, and adults through the community about Israel, its people, and its culture. The   "Rishonim" are a cohort of teens  who are in their gap year between high school and army service. They are partnered with  synagogues and schools  such as ours to participate in religious school classrooms and other synagogue events. This year the overall theme of the year is Israel's 75th anniversary (Wow! that snuck up on me!). Our Rishona is a lovely young woman, named Yael Bahat. She has already participated in our opening day of religious school visiting the classrooms and begun her lessons with our students. She is an absolute delight and I can see has already starting forging a connection with our students. She lives in Ra'anana and attended Mor MetroWest High School where she majored in biology and computer science. She has been a member of the Israeli Scouts for nine years and in a leadership role for three years. In her free time Yael loves singing and baking.
