Moshe and Eliad Ohayon z"l
Thank you to those of you who signed their Chametz Agency Forms and donated to the Moshe and Eliad Ohayon Fund in Ofakim, Israel. We were able to send $550.00 to our friend Rabbi Rafi Tvizer who directs the fund for over 600 needy families in Ofakim. These were Rabbi Rafi's kind words of thanks: "May you be blessed with a joyful Passover. You are a special community!" I thanked him for the opportunity to support our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisrael with prayers for peace, a speedy return of our hostages and a lasting peace for all the peoples of the region.
Moshe (52) and Eliad (23) Ohayon, father and son, were heroes and community leaders who fell protecting their neighbors. Moshe was also on the Board of Directors of the Shaharit Institute, a think tank, community organization and leadership incubator devoted to pluralism, inclusion and peacemaking among all people, Jewish and Non-Jewish, in Israel. Here is a beautiful tribute to Moshe and Eliad by the Director of the Shaharit Institute.
The media presents Israel as a sharply divided society with isolated, alienated groups battling each other. The Shaharit Institute challenges and overturns that perception. You can learn more about the Shaharit Institute by clicking here
The Torah says that we are illuminated by holy people, even when they are no longer with us. Moshe and Eliad and the values they lived give us hope.
